In today's world, where Pope Francis emphasizes the importance of reaching out to those in need of God's mercy, the catechumenate process has become an indispensable tool for forming passionate disciples. Imagine if we could harness the full potential of this process, not only for the catechumens and candidates but also for the entire parish community, igniting a passion to fulfill Jesus' mission of embracing all people, especially those on the peripheries, with love and mercy.
With this vision in mind, I am excited to invite you and your team to a transformative weekend training. This opportunity will equip you with the skills and knowledge to maximize the impact of the catechumenate process, regardless of your level of experience.
During this Friday night-Saturday event, you will:
 

• Discover how the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults forms missionary disciples.
• Learn to apply the core principles of the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults across all parish ministries.
• Practice leading a mystagogical catechesis.
• Acquire the skills to build an evangelizing parish.
• Learn the five most important questions to ask your seekers.

Our presenters, Nick Wagner and Diana Macalintal from Team Initiation, bring over 30 years of experience in helping parishes master the fundamentals of the catechumenate process and build teams that form passionate disciples of Jesus Christ.

• Track 1: Six Principles
  • If you are new to catechumenate ministry or even if you’ve been doing it for years, mastering the six core principles of the catechumenate process will give you the confidence you need for forming your seekers, catechumens, and candidates! We’ll explore the six principles of the catechumenate process that, if used, will create passionate, dedicated, lifelong Christian disciples.
• Track 2: Mystagogical Catechesis
  • Learn how to unpack the rites of the catechumenate in a powerful way that involves the full, conscious, and active participation of both the catechumens and the parish assembly. The strength and beauty of this process will provide your seekers with a life-changing encounter with Jesus Christ.

• Celebration of an adapted Rite of Acceptance
  • Liturgy is “the privileged place for catechizing the People of God,” says the Catechism of the Catholic Church. It is also the privileged place for catechizing the catechumens and candidates. Discover how you and your catechumenate teams can celebrate the initiation rites in a way that changes the hearts of your seekers and leads them to deeper conversion.
• Mystagogy on the Rite of Acceptance
  • Using the rite we just celebrated, practice the six-step process for leading your community through a mystagogical catechesis that will draw everyone involved into a deeper conversion to Jesus Christ.
• Are We Actually Making Missionary Disciples?
  • It can be challenging to know if we're truly making a difference in the lives of our catechumens and candidates. But what if there was a solution? In this session, we'll uncover insights from the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults and what it says is the secret to measuring success in your discipleship-making process. Now you can say goodbye to uncertainty and discover the truth about making missionary disciples.

• Become an Evangelizing Parish
  • If your catechumenate is not bursting at the seams, then there are two potential reasons. It is possible (but not likely) that everyone within driving distance of your parish is already evangelized. It is also possible (and more likely) that we are not inviting strangers into a relationship with Christ. In this session, we’re going to dig into the crucial importance of the first stage of the catechumenate process and dream together about what might happen in your parish if we all get more serious about evangelization.
• Five Inquiry Questions that Will Shape Your Seeker's Journey of Faith
  • A core principle of the catechumenate process is that the journey of faith varies for each individual. But how in the world are we supposed to develop an individualized faith-formation plan for every single one of our seekers? It may seem like a daunting task, but the first step is easy. We start with five simple questions. Once you know the five questions to ask—and how to ask them—you will be able to start your seekers on a path to lifelong discipleship by listening deeply to their true needs.
