The Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul will be hosting a summer concert series. Come and enjoy the many talented performers in this sacred space. Concerts are free and open to the public, Donations to restore the Casavant Organ are gratefully accepted. On July 30 we will be featuring The Maine Music Society Chamber Singers.
The Maine Music Society Chamber Singers is a group of about 20 singers, all members of the Androscoggin Chorale. It was formed in the spring of 2013 as a way of expanding the offerings of the Maine Music Society to include smaller venues outside of the regular MMS seasonal concerts. The Chamber Singers performs a cappella selections of varying styles, including (but not limited to) madrigals, early American songs, art songs of various kinds, and modern popular tunes. The first season featured a concert at Cumston Hall in Monmouth, an appearance at the Maine Music Society Wine Tasting, and a performance for the 25th anniversary event of the Lewiston Knights of Columbus. The Chamber Singers is conducted by MMS music director John Corrie, who also sings with the group.
