Easter is here!! Alleluia! My friends, did you know that we have not said the word Alleluia all during Lent? For the last 40 days, we have not heard the word during Mass, and we have not sung songs with that word in it. This is because Lent is a time that we think of everything Jesus suffered for us from the time he was praying in the garden of Gethsemane, until he died on the cross for our sins.
But now, we CELEBRATE! We sing Alleluia’s, we ring the bells! Jesus has risen from the dead! We remember when he died on the cross on Good Friday, but 3 days later, we celebrate how he was alive again!!
Easter Sunday is a great day, a feast we celebrate even more then when Jesus was born! This is because now, since Jesus died for our sins and rose from the dead, WE will also be able to rise to life and live with God forever after our life here is ended!
After Jesus had risen, he started going to visit his friends again! Everyone was so excited because they were not alone anymore! They had hope. His disciples waited and prayed with Mary, Jesus’ mother, until the Holy Spirit came down upon them and gave them every gift they were going to need to continue to tell the whole world about Jesus! We still have that same Holy Spirit here today with us! We too are an Easter People! Let us all rejoice !
HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!
3. Connect Faith to Daily Life
Easter is a time to celebrate new life. Take a minute to look outside, or take a walk outside today. What are some of the signs of new life that you can see? What about that you can hear? Let us all thank God together for His Great LOVE for all of us, and that we have life! Sing an ALLELUIA song to Jesus today!
Hail Mary full of grace, the Lord is with you Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus. Holy Mary mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of death. Amen.
5. Learn About the Saints
St Bernadette Soubirous
The church celebrates her feast on April 16. Bernadette was born in the year 1844 into a very poor family. When she was just a child, she was very loving, and loved to pray to God. God had a very special plan for her.
Bernadette was only 14 years old when the Mother of God appeared to her with special messages for the world. She called herself The Immaculate Conception. After this happened, it changed Bernadette's life forever!
Miracles began to happen. One of the miracles was that water began to come out of the ground where Mary had appeared. When sick people came to this pool of water and washed in it, they became well again!
Mary also asked that a chapel be built in the very place where she was appearing. Bernadette went to school, learned how to read, and when she was old enough, she gave her life to God and became a Nun. She spent the rest of her life serving God.
Today, people still come from all over the world to pray in the church, and to touch the water that still comes out of the rock. Miracles still happen today as those who come and pray for healing have their prayers answered.
St Bernadette is the patron saint of shephards, and of those who are sick St Bernadette, pray for us, and especially for all those who need to be healed!
