Catechesis for Everyone
“At the heart of catechesis we find, in essence, a Person, the Person of Jesus of Nazareth, the only Son from the Father...full of grace and truth, who suffered and died for us and who now, after rising, is living with us forever. It is Jesus who is ‘the way, and the truth, and the life,’ and Christian living consists in following Christ, the sequela Christi.... Accordingly, the definitive aim of catechesis is to put people not only in touch but in communion, in intimacy, with Jesus Christ; only He can lead us to the love of the Father in the Spirit and make us share in the life of the Holy Trinity.’” - Pope St. John Paul II
Catechesis Always Guides Us
Toward Christ and His Church
It always sounds like a great idea to just go with the flow and see where the wind takes you, but often times this leads to stress, frustration, and even a flat tire when we go off the beaten path. Jesus left us a clear way to find him, and he even left us a Church, so that we can follow the example of others, who can point us in the right direction along the way.
There is no lack of resources or books on Jesus and the Church, even atheists and scientists can point to the fact that a man named Jesus of Nazareth walked the earth 2000+ years ago. But the fact is Jesus was not just any man, but the only man who was truly God and truly Man and he left us The Sacraments as reminders to his people that he is truly alive and working through us.
The Spiritual Life is just as important to develop as the intellectual or the physical parts of us. Often times we exercise by going to the gym, or taking classes or additional trainings at work to enhance our minds and bodies. Participating in the Sacraments and sharing with others are great exercise.
Seeking Jesus and following down his road requires patience and practice just like everything else we do. We here at Prince of Peace Parish want to walk the road with you and help deepen your connection with the Living God and his Church.
