Advent is the Catholic liturgical season of preparation leading up to Christmas Day. The word advent is derived from the Latin word adventus, which means coming. During Advent we anticipate the coming of Jesus as a baby. It’s a penitential time full of reflection, excitement, and hope as we prepare to celebrate his birth.

Advent, as a season of preparation, offers a wonderful opportunity for your family to engage in activities that create a deeper connection to the true meaning of Christmas. This year choose one or two activities that resonate with your family, and keep the focus on the spiritual significance of the season. Whether it's creating an Advent wreath, reading and discussing daily Scripture readings, or participating in acts of kindness and charity, these intentional activities foster a sense of anticipation and reflection.
